Embrace summer 2020!

IDEAS´ brand new active colour forecast book EMBRACE for spring/summer 2020 is ready to order! Times are a changing and we adapted our colour forecast concept to the needs of a changing industry by choosing and merging the 45 most important shades out of all the colours our members contributed to the pool. This is the time when magic happens because all of our highly professional members are in sync about the trends. This 45 colour scheme allows us to offer an abundance of combinations portioned in 6 themes. All colour group pages stand for themselves and can be cut out of the book for further use. Each of the participating studios contributed interpretations of the themes they considered most important - according to their research and point of view. The different backgrounds of the studios and the market sections they work in create a broader variety of colour groups for our clients to choose from for their specific markets and collection needs. Thus we can show more facets of a trend theme than ever before and create a very inspiring colour book. Order here: info@ideasdesigners.com

Press release from Hohenstein Institute about our adapted team outfit for wheelchair basketballers

performance design workshop at the university of applied sciences Trier

We also offer lectures and classes about sport design and more.

Guest lecture about performance design

Today we had a guest lecture at the university of applied sciences in Mönchengladbach. Using a running collection as example we explained the design process of functional garments from briefing and research to finished designs to the students. In English language. It was a lot of fun and a great experience.

Publication in the SAZ sport on July 16, 2015 about our wheelchair basketball player outfits.

Design meets Performance • team outfits for wheelchair basketball players

Professional athletes are usually outfitted by professional sport apparel companies - at least you should think so - but this is not at all given for wheelchair basketball athletes. Until now!
Those teams have to order at the regular teamsport apparel suppliers and then have their shirts and shorts printed or flocked with numerous additional club and sponsor logos.

The status quo:
The clothes are not designed for a sitting activity, the shirts are bulging at the front, lacking length in the back and don´t offer enough freedom of movement in the shoulder and armpit region, also extreme humidity develops under the laminar prints. The design doesn´t reflect the teams taste or CI concept and it also does not provide a contemporary statement of the sport itself.

Common prejudices:
The target group of wheelchair basketball teams is too small to change the situation in a commercially interesting way AND each athlete needs an individualized outfit, as the handicaps and the physical requirements are so different.

eiermann + hattenkerl (focus on functional sport apparel design) and Biehler Sportswear (specialist for innovative and sustainable sportswear made in Germany) have a different point of view and approach and joint venture to develop a first test collection together for the Oettinger RSB team. The design and the ergonomic patterns were developed with the involvement of the players. This provided for a synthesis of the special requirements of the wheelchair athletes and the sport itself. The specific needs for this sport were considered mandatory in the pattern construction. All players could be outfitted with only 3 different sizes - L to XXL- with no special alterations necessary. The sponsor logos were printed on the jerseys in one step with the garment design, providing full breathability.
Everything is produced in Germany with the Oecotex Standard seal.

eiermann + hattenkerl active sports design * graphics design funktional sportswear since 20 years as well as accessories and prints. The athlete and his movements are in the focus of the design process. Function is the true sense of activewear, but without fashionable aspects and of course the perfect material for its purpose it is not attractive. The ambition is to design great looking collections that perform.

Biehler Sportswear is one of 60 members of the „Bündnis für nachhaltige Textilien“ (Partnership for Sustainable Textiles) that was founded in 2014 by the German Development Ministry and members of the textile industry, which stands for fairness, sustainability and improvement of the living and environmental conditions for workers in producer countries. Biehler Sportswear as professional textile manufacturer produces 100 % in Germany.

The wheelchair basketball outfits are made of recycled material and will receive an own sustainability label.

The first collection is a great success and can now be offered for other clubs, athletes and brands.
