This summer season 2013 is dedicated to summer in the city! Not only the countryside, coasts and mountains can provide quality of life and opportunity for sport! Escapism is over, we live the fusion of sport and street. Think of iconic cities with unique quality of life like Rio de Janeiro, Munich, Sydney, San Francisco, Stockholm, Budapest and countless more. Changing cityscapes, greener city centers, roof gardening and neighborhood parks improve the attractivity of an urban active lifestyle. Animals are silently sneaking back to urban habitats, like foxes, birds of prey and martens. The changes in our energy supply will further change the faces of our cities - Hydropower, wind plants, geothermal power plants, biomass factories, solar panels and electric cars. Science fiction helps us to imagine those future cities, think of an ocean ground Atlantis, Shangri-La, Coruscant, the city in the clouds. Admittedly very distant visions, but who knows...

Also our postmodern society is confronted with the undeniable realities of natural and man-made challenges and the shortage of resources. This leads to the individual being more involved in the community than in past decades. Ultra-modernity and ecology are not necessarily opposed, conservation and invention will coexist, community and individual exploration are available for all in our future cities. Trend sports like parcours, city cycling, rooftop yoga, city beaches and a new gym generation bridge the gap to our wellknown outdoor activities.

1 silver screen • high up on ...

2 knock on wood • and lay back

3 irons in the fire • while it’s hot!

4 In full swing • get into it!

5 pedal to the metal • out of sight!

6 low level flying • close to the wind

Once again we feature a great number of artists, photographers and illustrators (living in wonderful cities all over the world) to fuel your inspiration and show the graphic directions we estimate most important. You will also find new sample developments and materials by our supporting manufacturers.

In 2050, over three quarters of the world’s population will live in cities. 2% of the earth's surface is occupied by cities, 53 % of the world's population lives in cities.

This season we refer to our favorite and endless source of inspiration: Art! We think art and sport are closely connected, the art of movement and perfecting the body has artistic value. Sport was considered as art in Classical Greece, celebrating the beauty of the human form with sculptures of athletes. Composure and concentration exhibited not just in the olympic disciplines but in martial arts, dressage, ice skating, gymnastics and dance and other areas of sport illustrate & fuel the connection between our two favourite subjects: Art and Sport.

Our cooperation with artists, illustrators and photographers all over the globe is a great joy and we wholeheartedly invite our readers to contact these phantastic talents and profit from their expertise. Some are well established, some are still students, others are athletes themselves and all are generously willing to show their work and share their inspiraton with us.

If we could make an artistic tour around the world we'd visit every single artist and photographer and exchange our views on art and design and – of course – color!

Our theme names were inspired by art movements of the 20th century which are not as omnipresent as others, but nonetheless stimulating.

1 Magic Realism • follow your mood

2 Super Stroke • make your mark

3 Conceptual Dada • open your views & visual dimension

4 Suprematism • perfecting the geometric form

5 Lyrical Abstraction • trip the light fantastic

6 Neo geo • simulate nature

Everyone is an artist of some kind.

It depends on how we look on the world, how we appreciate the beauty of the mundane as well as the extraordinary that crosses our way – in nature, in art and in the people around us.
